What Our Staff Has to Say About OIA!
"Oakland International Academy is a school where teachers and students work together to be successful. The teachers work together not only in grade level teams, but also as a school team to make sure that each and every child is successful in the classroom. Our students not only learn how to be successful academically, but they also learn valuable social skills that will benefit them on a day to day basis. The teachers, staff and administration are always looking for new ways to help the students learn, while incorporating technology, hands-on activities, Daily 5, differentiated instruction and powerful comprehension strategies. Students in every grade level not only learn how to work as an individual, but they are also exposed daily to how to work together in a team with other students in the classroom." - Sarah Falletich, 3rd Grade Teacher
"This is my second year teaching 4th grade at Oakland International Academy. I have enjoyed every minute of my experiences. The staff, students, and parents have been wonderful! Watching children learn something new is the most rewarding aspect of my job. I love watching the children's eyes light up and how excited they get when they realize they have accomplished something new! I absolutely love my job and find it to be challenging and rewarding each and every day. There is always something new to look forward to and I truly enjoy coming to work each day." -Brandon Stacey, 4th Grade Teacher
"Oakland International Academy is a place I call my second home. I have worked at OIA for 6 years and feel very fortunate to have had such a wonderful experience. I began my teaching career at OIA, and throughout the years, I was provided with extensive trainings and professional developments that have allowed me to be a better teacher. It has been a privilege working with such wonderful administrators and staff members. I’m pleased to be part of the OIA team, where the students’ education always comes first!" -Amal Shohate, ESL Teacher
"In our years at OIA, there are two things we are most proud of; ESL student progress and increased parent involvement. It makes us very proud to see our students learn a new language. Also, we are pleased to see the growing parent involvement at OIA. This is a crucial aspect for the development of our students both socially and academically. We look forward to more years of student success!" -Mona Elghoul & Yasmeen Nasr, Paraprofessionals
"Oakland International Academy is a school with many learning opportunities available to their students. This school offers Art, Gym, Computers and Arabic classes. Oakland international is split into three buildings starting from K-12, which means that they can just continue on without the hassle of switching districts. This school also has a library in every building for the students as well as excellent teachers and paraprofessionals to help our students with their individual needs. Lunch is halal and recess is available for their students for each class at some point of the day. All three buildings have amazing principals that work hard to enforce rules and school policies. They make sure that everyone is doing their job to the best of their ability." Sumar Alashwal, Former Paraprofessional
