“I have been always working hard to pursue my dream, and Oakland International Academy helped me start my first steps toward a successful life. I am going to the University of Michigan-Dearborn to pursue a Biological Science major and a Leadership and Communications in Organizations minor.”

“OIA facilitated my college and career goals. I was provided with opportunities to apply to any college of my choosing, for my potential education and success. I got accepted into Wayne State University, Saginaw Valley University, and University of Detroit-Mercy, with a full scholarship. I also got accepted into Oakland University, University of Michigan- Dearborn, and University of Michigan Flint. I am forever grateful to OIA for giving me the opportunity to grow as a student and now in life as an adult.”

“My biggest stepping-stone was starting high school; I feel like this was where I began to be pushed passed my limits. Many of my teachers always made me feel like they edged me on a little harder and never failed to remind me of my potential. With that support, I knew I could cross any boundary and my future dreams only grew bigger. If it were not for the continuous aid from the staff at OIA, I would not be anticipating attending Wayne State University in the fall.”

“The best thing about Oakland International Academy is the staff, they were my 2nd family. My teachers were always there when guidance was needed and were never afraid to go the extra mile. The teachers pushed my limits and challenged me to do better and improve myself. Oakland International Academy always had award ceremonies which honestly have a special place in my heart, seeing the whole school come together to celebrate each other is heartwarming.”

I am in a PharmD program at Wayne State University. I am thankful to everyone in the OIA family especially Ms. Inas, Mr. Akil, Mr. Dendler, and Ms. Utterback, for all that they have taught me. High school days are amongst the best days in my life. OIA memories will stay with me forever!

Oakland International Academy played an important role in my life as well as taking in that “home” title because OIA has taught me that education gives life, a meaning and purpose for me to change for the better and aim for success.
